As the temperatures climb, nothing can be more carefree and cool (literally) than a maxi skirt. I reach for mine all of the time; therefore, I dedicate this post to wearing the same maxi skirt two ways: casual and dressy.
Look #1: Casual
The trick when pairing a maxi skirt with a slouchy tee is to define the waist. Here I have tied a knot but tucking would have worked just as well. Leaving the tee out would create unnecessary bulk – loose tee and loose skirt, if left unstyled, could look sloppy. Then I added an easy sandal and long necklaces to polish an otherwise laid-back look…bright lipstick doesn’t hurt either!
Necklaces: Lucia K Jewelry (email Kirsty), Mary Louise Designs & my sister’s creation | Sunglasses: MICHAEL by Michael Kors | Lipstick: Dior ‘New Look’
Maxi skirt (worn throughout): Heather (similar) | Tee: Leith | Clutch: Clare V | Sandals: Madewell (similar) | Bracelets: Queen Anne Dispatch (worn throughout), Giles & Brother, Madewell
Look #2: Dressed-Up
Same skirt just added…(drum roll, please)…a crop top. A high waisted skirt like this one, can look polished with such a top; whereas a low-rise skinny jean, for example, would bare too much and end up looking…young. Since my outfit was all black, I then added some interesting accessories – a striped d’Orsay flat and pops of color with a clutch and jeweled earrings (and matching nails – that rarely happens!).
Earrings: BaubleBar X Anthropologie (similar) | Lipstick & Nails: NARS ‘Schiap’ (on sale!)
Top: Tildon | Shoes: Halogen | Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff (similar) | Bracelet: House of Harlow (similar)
