Getting Crafty

July 29, 2016

Renegade Craft Fair Seattle

I ventured out of Nordstrom (where I have been shopping the Anniversary Sale for the past 3 weeks!) to visit the Renegade Craft Fair hosted in Seattle this weekend.  I was overwhelmed with the beautiful array of artisan wares including handmade home goods, jewelry, apparel, and accessories.  And, I love meeting the artists who crafted the beautiful piece (or pieces) that you take home with you.  Their stories, craft, and vision are always so inspiring.

Below I’m sharing a few of my favorite finds.  If you happen to be in the Pacific Northwest, Renegade’s final summer stop on the west coast is this weekend in Portland, Oregon.  I’m heading down to visit with friends in the Rose City…I’m hoping to convince them to do a bit more shopping as well.  Maybe I’ll see you there!

Make It Good Parachute Dress

Make It Good

To say that I am obsessed with this dress is an understatement.  In fact, I’ve already washed it in preparation for wear this weekend.  Made of this incredible rayon/nylon blend that does not wrinkle, and it floats from your body in such a flattering silhouette – this is a piece I know I will be wear for many summers to come!  Make It Good also has a brick and mortar store in Portland called North of West – I’ll definitely be checking this one out.

Fail Jewelry Basket Hoop Earring

Fail

All of Christine Fail’s designs are unique and beautifully made.  I love her mix of gold, rose gold, and silver metals.  In particular, the abstract shape of these “basket hoop” earrings caught my eye – they’re different yet simple enough to wear everyday.

El Sage Believe In Mountains Trucker Hat

El Sage Designs

I can get behind both the message and the styling of El Sage’s collection of hats, tees, and stickers.  All inspired by the PNW, the block print art is hand screened on to awesome trucker hats and soft tees (for adults and kids alike).  You can also find Phoebe and Jonathan’s designs at Queen Anne Frame, if you’re local to Seattle.

BZR Leather Choker

BZR

I may have gone home with both the leather choker and leather bolo…but really, how could you choose? This shop also has an eclectic sampling of hand-dyed leggings, colorful sunglasses, and printed dresses in addition to jewelry.  Definitely a must-see to up your accessories game!

Handmade Sam Made Wall Sconce

Handmade Sam Made

I can’t get enough of these geometric wall sconces, mobiles, and tabletop decorations, that are perfect for housing air plants or simply adding some spunk to a coffee table display (which is where you will find mine).  Handmade by Sam, Samantha Leung, these modern pieces add interest to any interior decor or collection.  You can also find Handmade Sam Made at Queen Anne Frame.

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful, sunny summer weekend.  It’s hot, hot, hot here in Seattle.  Thanks for reading! ~Jenn

Mother & Daughter Style

Pom Pom SandalsAnniversary Sale BP. Shirtdress

I am loving this sleeveless shirtdress from BP.  So cool and breezy when paired with sandals; an easy summer staple.  However, I’m planning on wearing it into fall under a sweater or even a leather jacket.  Or, even as a vest, worn open over a pair of jeans!  Endless possibilities all for under $40 (yep, really!)

Anniversary Sale: Activewear Favorites

July 21, 2016

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Zella Activewear

Just one day left until the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public!  Well…technically a several hours, because you can shop online at 12:01 am PST this Friday.  And, I would suggest shopping early (maybe even that early!) to score all of the major sale goodies that are sure to sell out quickly.  Be sure you’ve checked out my top picks post from last week to prepare for what I’m sure will be the first to go!

In the meantime, today I’m highlighting my favorite activewear pieces on sale.  I always cruise activewear at the sale because there are great deals on the basics that I reach for time and time again, most every morning throughout the year.  And, if you are a Nordstrom cardholder, you don’t have to patiently wait until the aforementioned stroke of midnight tonight to add these to your cart!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Zella Jacket

Zella

Zella’s selection at the sale never disappoints! This lightweight, hooded track jacket came home with me.  I also love all of their fun prints and creative designs, particularly on pants.  And always a great value!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Adidas Tank

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Asics Kayano

Asics

If you are an Asics Kayano fan, this is the time of year to replace your kicks!  These are a great deal on one of the most popular styles of running shoes (and I love the color combo too).

 Anniversary Sale Nike Running Tight

Nike

These are a compression tight, so they should be difficult to get on.  Keep in mind that this is how they stay up as you put them through the paces.  And I speak from experience, if you go up a size, you will constantly be tugging them up during your workout, which is never a good feeling!

Anniversary Sale The North Face Jacket

Anniversary Sale Zella Running Socks

Zella

Not as much fun as a stylish purchase, but I also use this sale as an opportunity to refresh my basics (think socks, bras, and underwear).  These Zella socks are a great quality – they’ll be sure to last you at least until next year’s sale!

Anniversary Sale Nike Free

Nike

Just to remind you, all of my picks are hand-selected through a cumbersome process called “trying it on” (as evidenced by my dressing room cam shot below).  It was nearing the end of the day, so I had to cut off my head!

Don’t forget to compile your list and get shopping early to snag some of these amazing deals. Thanks for reading and happy shopping! ~Jenn

Each day I’ve intended to post here. I greeted t Each day I’ve intended to post here. I greeted the new year feeling inspired with a renewed intention for my account; to share with you the goodies I love, wear, try. Unfiltered and honest. That’s what I’m here for. But then...2021 arrived feeling much like her older sister, 2020. Instead, I’ve avoided a lot of social media; choosing to tune into various news outlets and into my family. So, HERE WE ARE. A post proving that I got dressed yesterday, wearing some of my new favorites (these @flamingosshoes white boots!) and steady stand-bys (year 2 wearing this @notmondaymercantile beanie on repeat). I took the kids out after school to run a couple of errands and connect with a business I love to support; we made plans for a spring share. Man, it felt good to get out! And now, I’m posting early before I’ve read the morning news. So, it’s happened.

Please stay safe, remain respectful, and true to yourself. Social media is a beautiful way to connect, create, and inspire...but can also be a dangerous rabbit hole of misinformation and an opportunity for people to behave in a way they ordinarily wouldn’t in person. Happy New Year my dear friends! I’ve missed you Happy New Year my dear friends! I’ve missed you all but enjoyed a nice long break. Heading back home after some snow time and I’m feeling re-energized (for now). Isn’t it funny how a change in the calendar can make you feel different? Are you a “new year, new you” kinda gal or more indifferent? I do like a good reset. Even though we’ll be doing more of the same early this year, I’m feeling more optimistic. For now. Cheers to 2021!

Also, posted in stories a nearly identical photo of us from last January at the top of @schweitzer_mountain. While the photos look the same, it’s fun to think that we now are Sandpoint homeowners! A positive outcome of 2020. #newyearonthemountain #snowbest #schweitzermountain #skifamily
Snow plus a Christmas sweater...I’m checking all Snow plus a Christmas sweater...I’m checking all the boxes this year. Thinking of everyone not able to spend time with loved ones this year. I’m so grateful for our little family but really missing my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, my in-laws. Over a year seems far too long to be apart; but we all need to continue to be safe. It matters. #christmassweater #christmas2020 #staysafestayhome #vintagesweater

Like the new-to-me homemade marshmallow recipe, @thekirstyfiles and I have the pleasure of bringing to you in partnership with @pacific_place. We encourage you to invite a few pals to a zoom date, pop a bottle of bubbly, and create these delicious confections together. I promise they’re relatively fool proof (I pulled them off!) AND a sugar-high afternoon spent with friends (even virtually) will be sure to get you in the holiday spirit! Tune in to Pacific Place’s IGTV or YouTube to see the full tutorial, including my gaff when my marshmallow began moving into the “hard ball” territory (note: this recipe does require a candy thermometer and the ability to read it!). The belly laughs, chit chat, and groans (as we tried on a number of jeans) provided the escape from reality that I needed. Other things I love? Soft luxury cashmere, designer denim that fits like a glove, and packable hats (yes, packable!). All can be found @willaseattle; a small, women-owned boutique located in the heart of the Queen Anne neighborhood in Seattle. Be sure to check out our stories as @thekirstyfiles and I share holiday-perfect gifts for your sister, mother, girlfriends...yourself! Lucky for Kirsty and I, our husbands also know the lovely owner, Liz (and she has our wishlists on file)!

Also very near and dear to my heart, Willa is the epitome of shopping local. The shelves are stocked with unique, small business designs; including many Seattle businesses. When you shop local, you not only support your community but also curate a look all your own!

Sure, 2020 may be the year of the sweatpant (combined with a sleeping bag-like coat, as seen here). And yes, a mask chain is this year’s hottest accessory. BUT I still take care to actually get dressed each day. And while lipstick may no longer be a part of my daily routine (I mean, was it ever??), it’s still important to be pulled together..if only for my own mental health.
