Introducing “The Wardrobe Revolution”

September 29, 2016

Buki Cocoon Coat

Waiting is so hard to do. And I have been waiting to share a revolutionary new brand with you! I am so pleased to introduce you to  a luxe sportswear collection for men and women founded on the belief that a wardrobe should be both functional and chic.  Buki, a Seattle company, uses cutting-edge Japanese fiber technology to create clothes made out of wearable fabrics combined with quality tailoring and architectural silhouettes.

Buki Sportswear Line Seattle

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of visiting Buki’s downtown Seattle showroom and I met with the designer and team behind this amazing new venture. Fortunate for us (meaning me…and now you), I also got to play dress-up with the fall collection.  To say that I am impressed is truly an understatement! The feel of this breathable knit, which offers dynamic stretch-recovery, thermo-regulation, and moisture management, is unsurpassed.  The potential for travel (did I mention that “stretch-recovery” means that it doesn’t wrinkle?!), not to mention the hyper-functionality designed for the comfort and ease (yes, machine washable) required of our everyday lives!  And the sophisticated designs feature asymmetrical hemlines and tailored silhouettes.  This is a line you could literally live-in…and should!

Why the wait? Well, wait no longer! Now you can shop early access and pre-order your Buki wardrobe today.  You can be among the first to shop this amazing line…and receive a 15% discount code with “WHATJENNWORE15” entered at check-out (the code is good throughout the entire site, valid through October 31, 2016).

And, lucky for my Pacific Northwest readers, you can also experience “The Wardrobe Revolution” for yourself.  Beginning November 5th thru December 31st, Buki will have a pop-up shop located in downtown Seattle at 1826 6th Ave.  Open Monday-Saturday, I would encourage you to feel the difference and experience chic comfort for yourself.

Reluctantly Fall Styling

September 23, 2016

Wearing Summer Pieces Into FallTake me back!  It’s been less than 3 weeks since we returned from our sunny California vacation (and started right in to our new school routine), but it seems like a distant memory.  It’s crazy to think that less than a month ago I was dousing the kids in sunscreen and now we’re wearing jackets to our evenings spent at the farmer’s market.  How time goes by so quickly?! And there’s nothing like the rapid change of the seasons to remind us of just how quickly things can change.
Maxi Skirt Fall StylingAnthropologie Fall StyleI’m still hanging on to every last ray of sunshine, no matter how weak they have become.  And, I’m still getting mileage out of my spring and summer wardrobe, even if I’m now adding layers for increasingly chilly mornings.  In particular, I love how a vest can add a bit of warmth and interesting dimension to an otherwise basic outfit.  This one has been in constant rotation; a perfect mix of structured, moto styling yet made out of cotton terry, it’s perfectly casual yet adds so much interest.

And this skirt? I’ve paired it with sandals all summer long, but I’m ready to add more structured shoes as the days become shorter.  Stay tuned as I plan to pair this with everything from loafers and mules, to booties…even heels for nights out!

Nordstrom Cardholder Perks: Triple Point Rewards

September 21, 2016

_129486691File this post under the “Shopping Wisdom” tab.  As a Nordstrom cardholder (and there are several options available: retail, debit, and visa), the most significant perk is that you earn Nordstrom “notes” or money towards future purchases.  Ordinarily you accumulate one point for every dollar that you spend; receiving a $20 note for every 2,000 points.  However, there are several shopping events throughout the year where you can earn bonus points.  September 21-25 is one such event, when you get triple points on every purchase you make with your Nordstrom card at Nordstrom, The Rack, and on HauteLook.  Basically Nordstrom is paying you to shop in their store!

In anticipation of triple reward days, I have been storing my most lusted after items in my “wish list” – waiting to purchase during this event so that I can get more money back (I plan to apply the notes I earn towards my Christmas list – see, I’m thinking of others!).  I’ve shared this trick in the past: I “wish list” items online and revisit to check if they have gone on sale and confirm that it is something that I still “must have.”  Then, during these types of events, I simply move the items that are on the top of the list into my shopping cart and I’m done.  New clothes, accessories, and make-up refresh on the way to my home and new notes for the bank!

Curious what’s on my wish list?  See below.

What’s on your wish list? What are you lusting after this fall? Thanks for reading and happy shopping! ~Jenn

Sneakers and Trousers

September 19, 2016

Sneaker StylingSneakers, admittedly, often have a certain “vibe” – whether running errands or running after your kids, they’re the quintessential comfort shoe.  However, start to think outside the box the next time you lace-up your kicks, because sneakers have definitely gotten a stylish upgrade.  Especially in this season’s luxe materials such as suede, velvet, and metallic; sneakers are no longer relegated to active or loungewear.

Anthropologie Moto vestTrousers and sneakersAnd these trousers…more like a trouser/jogger hybrid.  I’ve paired them with a fitted blazer and oxfords for a more dressed-up look yet so easy, and more casual when paired with sneakers and a tee.  These trousers I scored at Forever 21 (yes, really – no shame in my game) but, the trouble with fast-fashion is that they have flown off the shelves!  See below for my similar trouser picks.

Each day I’ve intended to post here. I greeted t Each day I’ve intended to post here. I greeted the new year feeling inspired with a renewed intention for my account; to share with you the goodies I love, wear, try. Unfiltered and honest. That’s what I’m here for. But then...2021 arrived feeling much like her older sister, 2020. Instead, I’ve avoided a lot of social media; choosing to tune into various news outlets and into my family. So, HERE WE ARE. A post proving that I got dressed yesterday, wearing some of my new favorites (these @flamingosshoes white boots!) and steady stand-bys (year 2 wearing this @notmondaymercantile beanie on repeat). I took the kids out after school to run a couple of errands and connect with a business I love to support; we made plans for a spring share. Man, it felt good to get out! And now, I’m posting early before I’ve read the morning news. So, it’s happened.

Please stay safe, remain respectful, and true to yourself. Social media is a beautiful way to connect, create, and inspire...but can also be a dangerous rabbit hole of misinformation and an opportunity for people to behave in a way they ordinarily wouldn’t in person. Off my soap box. Have a lovely Friday!#wordsfrommyheart #realoutfitgram #flamingosshoes #whiteboots #notmondaymoments
Happy New Year my dear friends! I’ve missed you Happy New Year my dear friends! I’ve missed you all but enjoyed a nice long break. Heading back home after some snow time and I’m feeling re-energized (for now). Isn’t it funny how a change in the calendar can make you feel different? Are you a “new year, new you” kinda gal or more indifferent? I do like a good reset. Even though we’ll be doing more of the same early this year, I’m feeling more optimistic. For now. Cheers to 2021!

Also, posted in stories a nearly identical photo of us from last January at the top of @schweitzer_mountain. While the photos look the same, it’s fun to think that we now are Sandpoint homeowners! A positive outcome of 2020. #newyearonthemountain #snowbest #schweitzermountain #skifamily
Snow plus a Christmas sweater...I’m checking all Snow plus a Christmas sweater...I’m checking all the boxes this year. Thinking of everyone not able to spend time with loved ones this year. I’m so grateful for our little family but really missing my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, my in-laws. Over a year seems far too long to be apart; but we all need to continue to be safe. It matters. #christmassweater #christmas2020 #staysafestayhome #vintagesweater
Let’s make merry! Although holiday traditions ma Let’s make merry! Although holiday traditions may look different this year; we have an opportunity to get creative and share in new experiences. Like the new-to-me homemade marshmallow recipe, @thekirstyfiles and I have the pleasure of bringing to you in partnership with @pacific_place. We encourage you to invite a few pals to a zoom date, pop a bottle of bubbly, and create these delicious confections together. I promise they’re relatively fool proof (I pulled them off!) AND a sugar-high afternoon spent with friends (even virtually) will be sure to get you in the holiday spirit! Tune in to Pacific Place’s IGTV or YouTube to see the full tutorial, including my gaff when my marshmallow began moving into the “hard ball” territory (note: this recipe does require a candy thermometer and the ability to read it!). Cheers to making the most out of holiday 2020! #homemademarshmallows #pacificplaceseattle #craftingtogether
Ooooh...how I love a good shopping day with a frie Ooooh...how I love a good shopping day with a friend. The belly laughs, chit chat, and groans (as we tried on a number of jeans) provided the escape from reality that I needed. Sometimes you don’t realize just how much you miss something until you get to enjoy it again!

Other things I love? Soft luxury cashmere, designer denim that fits like a glove, and packable hats (yes, packable!). All can be found @willaseattle; a small, women-owned boutique located in the heart of the Queen Anne neighborhood in Seattle. Be sure to check out our stories as @thekirstyfiles and I share holiday-perfect gifts for your sister, mother, girlfriends...yourself! Lucky for Kirsty and I, our husbands also know the lovely owner, Liz (and she has our wishlists on file)!

Continued chronicles of dressing stylishly for you Continued chronicles of dressing stylishly for yourself, aka #stayathomestyle. Sure, 2020 may be the year of the sweatpant (combined with a sleeping bag-like coat, as seen here). And yes, a mask chain is this year’s hottest accessory. BUT I still take care to actually get dressed each day. And while lipstick may no longer be a part of my daily routine (I mean, was it ever??), it’s still important to be pulled together..if only for my own mental health. And even if no one else sees it but the grocery clerk. #whatmamaworemonday #sweatpantsseason

On the eve of Black Friday sales bonanza, I hope t On the eve of Black Friday sales bonanza, I hope to inspire, remind, urge, and even beg you to ignore all of the crazy cyber sales that have been creeping into your inbox for the past week and instead SHOP SMALL this holiday season. Yes, perhaps it’s less convenient and even less of a “deal” but this pandemic is putting an even greater strain on the small and local businesses that are the absolute life blood of our communities. And, in addition to supporting an entrepreneur and neighbor, you’ll likely find more creative, individual, and unique gifts for your loved ones by shopping a small business.
