Perhaps you’ve noticed; I haven’t been posting as frequently after the holidays. Personally, I always find January to be the most difficult month to find motivation and purpose. I know that most everyone wants to find a better self with their new year’s resolutions. However, I find resolutions to be overwhelming, as I fail at the same ones year after year…eat less sugar, get more sleep, get organized, get in shape, spend less (the list goes on).
This year, rather than creating a resolution, I like the idea of setting an intention for 2017. And, ironically, I intend to live 2017 more intentionally. For me this means giving myself time to prepare for things (events, blog posts, kid activities, family outings, etc). Also, I want to recognize and act upon my feelings rather than being reactive (which is typically my MO). Finally, I want to be more planful (something I struggle with daily), to resolve to saying “No” to commitments I don’t have to honor, and to find more time in my day for things that bring me joy. This may mean improving upon bad habits that suck my time, energy, and resources, as well as becoming more organized; yet I’m not going to focus on absolving all of these habits entirely. 2017 will be a year of intentional self love.
And meditation…ever tried it? I did briefly in my 20’s and I’m ready to give it another shot in 2017.
