It’s nearly that time of year again…the annual sale shopping event of the year, THE Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This sale is a great opportunity to stock-up on fall basics (yes, fall) at discounted prices. I’m always interested in Nordstrom’s amazing selection of boots, designer denim, sweaters, and coats (yes, really…fall). I also use this opportunity to refresh my undergarments and activewear. Additionally, you can also score select (and limited) designer pieces, but only if you shop early. For a small sampling of the sale offerings, check out the women’s catalog and men’s catalog.
In preparation for a shopping trip (whether it be in advance of this sale, back-to-school, or a shopping destination), you can avoid overspending and feeling overwhelmed by preparing in advance. Yes, successful shopping requires preparation. With this in mind, here’s your homework:
- Starting in your closet, take inventory of what you have.
- Make a list of things you need (this includes wardrobe “holes” or items you may need to compliment existing pieces in your wardrobe).
- Check the condition of stored items (for example, fall boots and winter coats), and note any replacements.
- Create a “wish list” – this could include “looks” you’ve seen on others or pieces that you have coveted in the past. You may find a similar item on sale. I always advocate for leaving a little room in your budget for the unexpected piece that brings you joy.
I’m shopping early next week (being a seasoned sale shopper has it’s perks), so be sure to check back in on Thursday, July 13th as I will post my favorite finds as the sale goes live online at 12:01pm PST. You can also following along on my Instagram, as I will be sure to post live updates via my stories. (Above is a sampling of last year’s dressing room cam).
Also, being a cardholder is critical for “Early Access” shopping, which begins on Thursday and runs through July 20th. The sale then opens to the public (meaning non-Nordstrom cardholders) beginning July 21st thru August 6th, when prices finally go up.
In the coming days I will continue to post my favorite fall styling trends and more sale shopping wisdom in preparation for the beginning of the sale next week. Thank you for reading and stay tuned! ~Jenn
