The sun is shinning and the temperatures are finally warm enough to go without a jacket…yet you’re stuck in the arctic, air-conditioned office. Yep, most of us still have to work during the summer months. Until you strike it rich (or retire), I’ve got you covered for work appropriate summer styles (no pun intended).
The golden rule for showing off your summer bronzed skin at work is to be subtle (read: appropriate) and choose just one area to highlight. For example, love your toned shoulders? A sleeveless blouse is perfectly acceptable when paired with cigarette pants and pumps. Or would you rather free your legs from the constraints of hosiery? Then cover-up up top with a summer-weight blazer or long-sleeve blouse.
I believe that open-toe shoes can be appropriate for work (this all depends, of course, on your office dress code). Again, keep the look professional. The flip flops or espadrilles that you live in all weekend shouldn’t see the florescent lights of the office. However, a peep toe or polished sandal when paired with a pencil skirt or ankle-grazing pant is perfectly professional for most offices.
Favorite picks:
Zara (these are culottes!!)
Several of the picks above were recommended by my ever-stylish yet oh-so-professional pal (she arrived from work wearing the chic Topshop dress and AGL sandals pictured above). What are you wearing to work this summer? I’m always looking for inspiration…I may include your selections in my next post!
As always, thanks for reading! Enjoy a terrific weekend. ~Jenn
