For those of us who remember the “grunge era” of the 1990’s, it may be difficult to imagine dressing up a lived-in flannel or styling a slouchy beanie to go anywhere respectable. However, distressed denim is a trend that is here to stay and, when pairing with sophisticated pieces, torn jeans can easily be taken out to dinner (or at least a drink)!
In this look, my tattered jeans are elevated to date-night wear when paired with a sophisticated (and covered-up) cashmere turtleneck and pony-hair d’Orsay pumps. A fringed clutch compliments the rock and roll vibe of the destroyed jeans. Also, black distressed jeans are easier to dress-up than a pair of faded blue jeans (although it can be done!).
