In addition to “Cyber Monday”, apparently “Small Business Saturday” is also a thing. Just like the craziness of “Black Friday” – shopping (including deep discounts and sales incentives) seems to be central to this time of year. And while I consider myself a pro when it comes to shopping, sometimes I just need to slow down. Particularly this time of year, when everything can be so frenetic, it’s important to make time to enjoy the people and places that make your community special.
Rather than offering you more online deals this “Cyber Monday” – I thought that I would share a few favorite local haunts in Seattle, including photos from an afternoon I recently spent shopping at Pike Place Market followed by lunch at Wild Ginger. Both of these places are quintessential Seattle destinations. The market is ubiquitous to Seattle and, while a favorite among tourists, it is a fabulous stop for locals looking for the freshest of produce, fish, Beecher’s cheese, delicious pastries, and, of course, Rachel’s Ginger Beer. Following a morning spent picking up groceries at the market, Kirsty and I headed downtown for a delicious lunch at Wild Ginger…more on what to order below.
Rather than {more} online shopping this Cyber Monday, I’m supporting a few of my favorite Seattle retailers (all located right in my backyard!)
You can find my sweater and jeans at one of my favorite small boutiques, Foundation. Located in Queen Anne, stop in to visit Summer for a curated and unique selection of knits, party dresses, and winter toppers. Aside from the outfit seen here, I’ve recently acquired the most comfy pair of velvet cropped pants and a sparkly cardigan I’ve deemed holiday party worthy.
My Apolis market tote can only be found at Queen Anne Frame. More than a frame shop (custom framing is their primary business), stop in to browse the collection of local handmade jewelry, unique artisan gifts including ceramics and baskets, and a beautiful assortment of stationary, cards, and notebooks. Kirsty also has a (faux) fur collection of winter accessories and handmade holiday decor, like driftwood trees and macrame garlands (all made by Kirsty herself) sure to make your holidays brighter and your gift giving even better!
Finally, my favorite organic skin care line is made right here in Seattle as well. I’ve shared the magic of Kari Gran’s products before, and truly, the colorful lip whips are in constant rotation in my purse. A recent addition to her green beauty line is Kari’s new “Essential Balm” which I just ordered for 15% off (deal good through “Cyber Monday”). Ideal for healing winter skin, I plan to apply this balm like it’s my job – my elbows, lips, and under eyes will be the picture of glowing hydration!
{outfit details}
sweater: Acoté (from Foundation)
denim: Loup (also Foundation)
coats: Topshop
boots: Louise et Cie (major sale alert!)

Back to lunch…Wild Ginger has been a favorite among Seattlites looking for delectable Pan-Asian cuisine since 1989. In the spirit of taking time to enjoy our community and good company, Kirsty and I took a break from our holiday errands recently to enjoy a cocktail paired with some fragrant duck buns. I ordered a Thai chili margarita and Kirsty enjoyed the special – a spicy pear cocktail. Also not to be missed, the chicken pot stickers made fresh daily!
Cheers to “Cyber Monday”…and the beginning of the holiday season! May you find time to treasure what is important to you this season. Thanks for reading! ~Jenn
