I am a gal-on-the-go, aren’t we all? Therefore, my regular morning beauty ritual needs to fit within my busy schedule. On a typical day, you’ll find me with pretty minimal makeup, but 5 crucial products keep me looking fresh and feeling pretty.
This R+Co dry shampoo is aptly named “Death Valley.” Really, I’ve tried quiet a few and this one is THE BEST! As promised, the dry shampoo soaks up oil in a snap without leaving an ashy residue. I try to only wash my hair twice a week (yep, really – it’s a MAJOR time saver) and this product allows me to go days between washes without looking like a total raga-muffin. One trick, I apply dry shampoo before my workout, in anticipation of all of the sweat and oil sure to collect in my hair. It also smells fresh and adds volume to limp locks. My pals with finer hair, even add it to clean hair to had a little umph to styling.
It Cosmetics “Brow Power” in universal taupe not only does as it promises (it is actually a universally flattering shade), but the pencil fills in my brows like no other. I’ve tried several other pencils, powders, and liquids for my brows and nothing looks as natural, yet fills in completely as this pencil. It’s perfectly soft and just the right shade – I can’t explain it, but it actually works. And it’s important to note that I am someone super into brows!
Forget blush, with only minutes to spare on my beauty regime, I will always, ALWAYS choose bronzer. I use an angled brush with this Charlotte Tilbury sculpting bronzer. The color is light and subtle (not too orange or brown) and it doesn’t have any sparkle or glimmer in it. During my normal routine, I make a 3 shape starting under my cheek bone then blending under my jaw and finishing at my temple. If I’m going for a more glam look or simply wearing more makeup, I will add the luminescent highlighter just above my cheek bone for a candlelit glow.
This is a surprise one! I received a sample of Milk Sunshine Oil in my monthly Birchbox cosmetic subscription and, I must admit, that it sat for a couple weeks without use. Then one day when I had time to play, I used it’s roller ball applicator to apply the light oil under my eye area and on top of my cheek bones. Not only is this oil super hydrating, but it also provides a beautiful but subtle glow when the light catches it.
I am absolutely in LOVE with this lip whip from Kari Gran. Super hydrating; it’s not tacky and doesn’t stain, but adds beautiful lustrous color in several lovely shades. My favorite go-to has been “Jolene” but it’s been really fun mixing different colors with the subtle “Shimmer” shade for different looks. I use my finger and layer for a look from subtle to glam (you can also apply with a lip brush – but who can ever find those in their purse??).
Stay tuned next week when Kari reveals her limited-edition holiday lip color. I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting Kari and learning more about her organic skin and makeup line (in fact, you will see a familiar face on the Kari Gran website!). I’ll be reviewing more products from her cosmetic line, as well as sharing Kari’s personal story about how following her passion led to the launch of her successful skincare brand.
