The beginning of the new year can be difficult. No matter the stress of the holidays, there always seems to be a slump once all of the activities are over, not-to-mention that the remaining winter months just seem SO long. In an effort recharge, renergize, and remain positive; I thought a “Wellness Wednesday” segment would help us to stay on track, remain focused, and bring some positive vibes.
I’ve taken classes at barre3 studios (both in Washington and Arizona), and have loved the challenging combination of ballet, pilates, and yoga. Nothing beats a group class to keep me motivated and inspired to workout! However; the inconvenience of the studio, the expenditure on the classes, and scheduling…life in general (insert: kids, work, any other committments) have made it difficult for me to attend with regularity. Instead, I have really been enjoying their online workouts. While not as inspiring as attending their lovely studios, the convenience of my basement and the excellent instruction offered by owner Sadie Lincoln and her crew of instructors, make it a difficult yet enjoyable workout to practice at home.
Everybody could use a new pair of sneakers to inspire their workout. I’m loving the sleek design of these Nike Pegasus running shoes. However, it always seems that the experts at the running stores fit me in the loudest, most “not cute” pair of practical shoes to support my mileage. I suppose running without injury is something (maybe the only thing), I may be willing to compromise on style! Regardless, I may need a pair of these simply for running around town.
I’m a huge fan of the monthly Birchbox beauty deliveries; however, you don’t need to be a member to purchase their limited edition currated boxes. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my “Strong Start” box filled with goodies to keep you hydrated, refreshed, and looking fresh while working out. They had me at the bkr water bottle (I own one of these glass bottles – I love both the sleek design and it’s absence of plastic), but throw in some setting mist with SPF and custom fit earbuds and I’m sold!
I generally prefer a capri to a long pant – I think it has to do with breaking up the leg line, even though showing some skin in the dead of winter can be a bit scary! I’m especially digging the two tone pattern of these pants by Alo. I have another pair of their pants and love the comfort yet the thick fabric holds you in for an extra boost of confidence during your workout sesh.
Well, this is a mantra I can get behind! I have several journals that I vow every other month to fill with thoughts and antidotes from my day. I love this idea, yet struggle with feeling like a failure when I don’t follow through. Therefore, “Be Happy Always” seems fitting to afford myself some grace.
How do you like “Wellness Wednesday”? Ideas and suggestions always welcome (and kindly appreciated). Wishing you a wonderful one as well. As always, thanks for reading! ~Jenn
