I’ve become obsessed with culottes, really any wide-leg cropped pant (which is the definition of culotte)…I don’t want to wear anything else this summer. So comfortable, easy, and yet so chic. The cropped length shows a hint of skin while allowing you to show off your cute shoes!
Nipped in at a high waist, the wide leg crop is both flattering and comfortable. The high-rise is critical to show off your figure (as the volume of the pant can be overwhelming) and perfect for summer’s cropped silhouettes and tucked in tees. Remember my key to proportions: wide and voluminous on bottom then short, tucked or fitted on top.
I also prefer the cropped length to the pant’s wide leg trouser cousin because you don’t always have to wear a tall shoe (with the full length, a tall shoe really is critical to create that leg-lengthening illusion). Because you’re showing some ankle with the cropped version, you can more easily get away with a flat sandal and sneakers (although wedges, heels and platforms still look killer too!). The only thing I would caution with regards to shoes plays to proportions as well. Just be sure that you have a substantial shoe, meaning that a dainty shoe may look out of place with the wider cut of the pant.
