Each year I am reminded that the month of August is an awkward time to be shopping. Just as any change of season; there’s amazing sale prices to be found on summer pieces yet fall fashion is already filling the racks. As with anything, I guess, there’s a happy medium.
I caution not to be lured by summer sales (unless you live in a perpetually sunny local), because you may not be wearing your new scores until next year. That-being-said, this is an excellent time to get that special piece you may not ordinarily be able to afford at full-price. Below are a few SALE summer pieces I’m considering as the warm sunshine turns to cooler autumn days:
Because I have fallen into the summer-sale trap before, I am trying to be mindful of the pieces that I am buying this time of year. I’m beginning to think of what I want to be wearing this fall (ahhhh….I know, I’m not ready for summer to end either!) and, when shopping, I think about how I could be wearing a piece now and in the months to come. I’m not investing in coats and heavy knits just yet, but instead maybe open-toe shoes but in fall’s rich colors such as oxblood and black (great now paired with a summer dress but still appropriate when paired with jeans in early fall).
Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you that this weekend marks the final days of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (see my fave picks here). Below are a few restocked favorites and newly discovered pieces I’m adding to my cart:
Thanks for reading! I’m back and have recovered from some serious jet lag this week. I’m promising more fun content in the week ahead, including a recap of my London adventures and a packing post (complete with lessons learned). Stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy a terrific weekend! ~Jenn
